NORTH JERSEY
The Joseph J. D'Aries Training Center is named after the former Administrative Manager of the New Jersey Carpenters Apprentice Training and Educational Fund. Joe began as Administrative Manager in 1968 and by 1986 had succeeded in centralizing the program, bringing state-wide consistency and standardization to the curriculum. He continued to serve as the Administrative Manager until his retirement in 1993.
The 68,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art facility serves as the training center for all of the apprentice training and skill enhancement programs in northern New Jersey. John Mackay has been the Training Director since 1986 and has been a union carpenter for over 38 years. He has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Labor Studies and also serves as the manager for the fund's day-to-day operations.
