Thomas C. Ober Carpenters Training Center

The Thomas C. Ober Training Center is named after the former Executive director of the New Jersey Carpenters Apprentice Training and Educational Fund. Prior to serving as the Executive Director, Tom held many positions in his 45-year career as a union carpenter including, Executive Secretary-Treasurer of the New Jersey Regional Council of Carpenters, President of the New Jersey State Council of Carpenters, Co-Chairman of the New Jersey Carpenters Funds and Business Manager and President of the South Jersey Regional Council of Carpenters.

The 38,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art facility serves as the training center for all apprentice training and skill enhancement programs in southern New Jersey. Tom Sommers is the Training Director and has been a union carpenter for over 25 years as well as a former training instructor. Tom also coordinated the "Youth Transition to Work" program from 1999-2001.
