On November 1, 1969 the New Jersey Carpenters Apprentice Training and Educational Fund was incorporated by signatories of the New Jersey State Council of Carpenters and the Building Contractors Association of New Jersey. Initially the Co-Chairmen of the Fund and the trustees, employer and employee, approved the utilization of the county vocational schools for training. In late 1985 - early 1986 the Co-Chairmen and Trustees approved the centralization of training. The fund leased and later purchased a building in Vineland for South Jersey apprentices to attend training and leased a building in Mountainside for the North Jersey apprentices to attend training. Since that time the Fund has purchased and renovated a building in Kenilworth, New Jersey (north) and purchased land, built a building and recently added an addition in Mulica Township, New Jersey (south). With the consolidation of the funds in New Jersey the Training Center and Fund in Trenton (central) is now part of the New Jersey Carpenters Apprentice Training and Educational Fund. Along with the consolidation of funds is the purchase of the training center that is utilized by Carpenters Local 31 Training Program. The New Jersey Training Centers are all registered by the United States Department of Labor, Bureau of Apprenticeship and Training and the New Jersey Department of Vocational Education as approved training centers for training registered apprentices. The ongoing improvements in training for apprentices and journey level carpenters are the responsibility of the Co-Chairmen and Trustees of the Fund. They meet at regular intervals to discuss and improve the training programs to assure the training is meeting the needs of the future. |
