Part 1
Metal Stud Framing - Commercial Geometric Layout
Course Number: IS103
Course Description: This course is designed to introduce and/or reinforce methods of commercial layout. These include changing finish wall dimensions to rough wall or track lines, layout of radius walls, octagons, circles and segments of a circle, erecting a perpendicular line and working to control lines.
Course Length for Parts 1 & 2 - 24 hours.
Participants are urged to complete both parts 1 and 2 of this course. Participants will receive a certificate for each section successfully completed.
Part 2
Metal Stud Framing 2- Soffit Framing
Course Number: IS101
Course Description: This course is designed to introduce and/or reinforce methods of commercial soffit framing using drywall, metal studs, drywall channel and utility angle. Various construction techniques, such as conventional framing and prefabricated framing, will be used beginning with basic soffit designs and progressing to more intricate soffits and light pockets. Reading prints for soffit information will also be discussed.
Course Length for Parts 1 & 2 - 24 hours.
Participants are urged to complete both parts 1 and 2 of this course. Participants will receive a certificate for each section successfully completed.
Part 3
Metal Stud Framing - Commercial Framing
Course Number: IS202
This class is one of three parts which includes the reading of prints related to wall framing, methods of converting finish measurements to rough wall layout, installation of welded door and borrowed light frames and knockdown (KD) door bucks and installation of shaft wall systems. Various stud layout procedures will be utilized in the shop to simulate what the journeymen may encounter on the job
Course Description: Includes the reading of prints related to wall framing, methods of converting finish measurements to rough wall layout. Also included are the proper stud layout techniques, application of framing techniques utilized on hands on projects and the proper application of drywall and topfill.

Part 4
Metal Stud Framing - Proper Installation of Door Bucks and Borrowed Light Frames
Course Number: IS104
This class is one of three parts which includes the reading of prints related to wall framing, methods of converting finish measurements to rough wall layout, installation of welded door and borrowed light frames and knockdown (KD) door bucks and installation of shaft wall systems. Various stud layout procedures will be utilized in the shop to simulate what the journeymen may encounter on the job.
Course Description: This course provides the Interior Systems Carpenters with the proper method of layout and installation of Borrowed Light Frames, Knock Down bucks, Welded door bucks, masonry bucks and metal doors according to manufacturer?s specifications.

Part 5
Metal Stud Framing - Shaft Wall Systems
Course Number: IS201
This class is one of three parts which includes the reading of prints related to wall framing, methods of converting finish measurements to rough wall layout, installation of welded door and borrowed light frames and knockdown (KD) door bucks and installation of shaft wall systems. Various stud layout procedures will be utilized in the shop to simulate what the journeymen may encounter on the job.
Course Description: This course is designed to present shaft wall systems and components for the new and experienced Interior Systems Carpenter. It will include both theory and hands on training.
Course Length for Parts 3, 4 & 5 - 30 hours.
Participants are urged to complete all or part of the class and will receive a certificate for each section successfully completed.
Barrel Ceilings
Course Number: IS301
Course Description: This class presents theory, layout and installation of a Segmental Barrel Ceiling using two systems: 1) Drywall Grid, and 2) 1 1/2" Cold Rolled Channel (CRC) and Drywall Channel. The importance of correct layout to the actual construction of the ceiling is a main focus of this class. Methods of bending drywall and alternative methods of construction will also be discussed.

Course Length: 18 hours.
Fire Stop Installation
Course Number: IS302
Course Description: Building codes are expanding by requiring the use of Fire Stop materials. This workshop demonstrates the correct techniques for installation of fire stop materials. All participants who satisfactorily meet the requirements, 100 percent completion and demonstrated ability will receive a UBC fire stop certification card.

Residential Blue Print Reading and Framing Components
Course Number: RE101
Course Description: this course is designed to introduce and/or reinforce methods of residential layout techniques. Includes the reading of architectural plans related to deck, wall and ceiling framing. Various layout procedures will be discussed in the shop. Included in this class is a manual for each participant.
Prerequisites: None
Course Length: 20 hours.

Residential Rafters
Course Number: RE202
Course Description: This class is one of three parts which includes the reading of prints related to wall framing, methods of converting finish measurements to rough wall layout, installation of welded door and borrowed light frames and knockdown (KD) door bucks and installation of shaft wall systems. Various stud layout procedures will be utilized in the shop to simulate what the journeymen may encounter on the job.
Course Length for both parts: 36 hours.
Participants are urged to take both parts of the class and will receive a certificate of completion for each part successfully completed.
Part 2
Residential Rafters
Course Number: RE202
Course Description: This course will pick up where Part 1 leaves off. The participant will learn about unequal pitched roofs and the basic hexagon and octagon used in gazebos.
Course Length for both parts: 36 hours.

Part 1
Residential Exterior Finish
Rough Framing setting and installation of exterior door and window units and exterior trim.
Course Number: EF103
Course Description: This course will show the inexperienced Carpenter the methods, and reinforce the experienced Carpenter?s skills, regarding the installation of door and window units from rough opening to finish.
Course Length for both parts: 20 hours.
Participants will receive a certificate of completion for each part successfully completed.
Part 2
Residential Exterior Finish
Standing and Running Exterior Trim
Course Number: EF104
Rough Framing setting and installation of exterior door and window units and exterior trim.
Course Description: This course will continue by showing the Carpenter the proper methods of installing standing and running exterior trim. This course includes nomenclature and selection of trim.
Course Length for both parts: 20 hours.
Participants will receive a certificate of completion for each part successfully completed.
Residential Metal Stud Framing
Course Number: RE103
Rough Framing setting and installation of exterior door and window units and exterior trim.
Course Number: EF103
Course Description: This course is designed to show the uses of metal as an alternative material in the framing of homes. Participants will construct a 400 square foot building including residential deck framing, bearing walls and trusses with tools and materials commonly used in metal stud framing. Job site safety training and training inthe safe and efficient use of hand and power tools will be provided.
